OFFICIAL FRONTIER LEAGUE BOX SCORE

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans (31-31) blasted a season-high three homers in a 10-4 victory over the Down East Bird Dawgs (27-34) on Wednesday - as the club used two-run homers from Taylor Wright, Kaiden Cardoso, and Victor Cerny.

Alfredo Villa (win, 7-2) pulled into a tie for the team lead with his seventh victory of the season, tossing five and a third innings of three-run ball. The right-hander allowed eight hits, walked one, beaned two, and fanned five for his fourth consecutive win. Villa cruised through the opening five frames by allowing just three hits and six base runners total, keeping the Bird Dawgs off the board.

Taylor Wright blasted his second home run of the season in the bottom of the second inning with a two-run homer to right off Drew Henderson (loss, 3-2) to put the home side up 2-0 early. The North Vancouver product left the yard for the first time since May 30.

In the third, Justin Fogel doubled the lead with a two-run single to right-centre, putting the Titans up 4-0.

Abbotsford's Kaiden Cardoso later added to the score with a two-run homer the opposite way to left to make it 6-0 in the fourth inning.

The Bird Dawgs' starter was removed after allowing an unearned run to score in the fifth inning on an error, seeing a leadoff hit by pitch cross the dish to make it 7-0. Henderson went four and two-thirds, allowing a season-high seven runs (six earned) on five hits, walking four, hitting one, and striking out four.

The visitors got to Villa in the sixth inning, plating three runs on five hits to cut into the deficit at 7-3. Trotter Harlan and Ali LaPread connected for RBI singles while Cameron Masterman lasered a run-scoring double off the right field wall.

Facing Canadian right-hander Jack Seward in the seventh, Jake Sanford ripped an RBI double off the right field fence to add a run back to make it 8-3. Sanford drove in his first run in seven games to add some much-needed insurance.

Following an inning and a third of scoreless relief from Billy Duby, left-hander Luke Powell allowed a run on three hits in the top of the eighth, seeing the Bird Dawgs make it 8-4. With the potential tying run moved into the on-deck circle with two aboard, Shane Gray (save, 5) entered to get the Titans out of the jam on a flyout.

In the bottom of the eighth, Winnipeg's Victor Cerny crushed a two-run jack onto Coventry Road for his fifth homer of the year off Jackson Hicks to push the Titans across the finish line to make it 10-4.

With a scoreless ninth from Gray, the Titans pulled back to the .500 mark with the victory, clinching the season series over the expansion Bird Dawgs.

Canadian-born Titans contributed seven of the nine credited RBI in the win.

The Ottawa Titans continue their first homestand of the second half with the finale of a four-game series against the Down East Bird Dawgs on Thursday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium. The Titans will then welcome the Evansville Otters to Ottawa for the first time since the 2022 season with a three-game series over the weekend. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 Unique FM and live-streamed on Frontier League TV, powered by HomeTeam Network.
