Paterson, NJ - Opening their final series south of the border for the regular season, the Ottawa Titans (41-38) dropped a 14-8 contest to the New Jersey Jackals (48-30) on Tuesday.

The Titans' bats came out swinging against former teammate Alec Thomas (win, 3-5), as Jason Dicochea returned to the lineup and doubled home AJ Wright to open the scoring.

Up 1-0 after a half-inning, the Jackals pounced for six runs off Damon Casetta-Stubbs (loss, 5-4) in the bottom half of the first. Seven members of the Jackals reached base before the first out was recorded.

The right-hander only went three and allowed nine runs (eight earned) on 12 hits, walking out two, and striking out three. The defeat for Casetta-Stubbs was the first of its kind in his last six outings.

Joey Terdoslavich and Jason Dicochea each homered off Alec Thomas, as the Titans' offence didn't back down despite the deficit.

Kenny Williams allowed five runs over three innings of relief, before Connor Kelly and Evan Berkey each threw scoreless innings.

With a pair of runs in the seventh, the Titans took advantage of an error from Lance Lusk and tallied three runs to pull within six in the eighth.

In the loss, Jason Dicochea extended his hit streak to six with a 3-for-4 performance. Returning to the lineup for the first time in four games, Dicochea continued his team lead with his 19th double and 15th homer of the season while also driving in two and scoring three runs.

The Ottawa Titans continue a six-game road trip with the second of three against the New Jersey Jackals on Wednesday morning at 10:35 a.m. at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey. Following the last two in New Jersey, the Titans will play their final 15 games of the regular season north of the border as they start a weekend series in Trois-Rivières. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 UNIK FM and live-streamed on Flo Baseball.
