Canadian Jakob Newton Commits To Titans

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today the signing of Canadian utility player Jakob Newton for the upcoming 2023 Frontier League season.


Newton, 24, heads to the Nation’s Capital following a successful campaign with the Intercounty Baseball League’s London Majors this past summer. In 33 games, Newton posted an impressive .366 average, belting four homers, and driving in 33.


The utility player was also tied for the league lead with four triples and came second in Rookie of the Year Award voting. In the playoffs, Newton helped guide the Majors to their second-straight title by hitting .483 with 19 RBI in 14 games.


The Oakville, Ontario product hit .274 in his five-year collegiate career at Florida Tech University (Melbourne, Florida) from 2018-2022. In 184 career games, Newton compiled a .375 on-base percentage to go along with 43 stolen bases.
