A Lasting Legacy: Taylor Wright Moves On to New Opportunity

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club, the defending Frontier League champions, have announced that long-time utility player Taylor Wright will be leaving the Club after five seasons and joining the Winnipeg Goldeyes of the American Association. The Titans traded Wright in exchange for a PTBNL.

The North Vancouver, British Columbia product has been part of the organization since its inaugural 2022 season, helping establish the foundation of a franchise that has continued to grow both on and off the field. From the early days of an expansion team to becoming a championship organization, he has been a constant presence and one of the most recognizable and beloved members of the Titans.

Over 361 games in a Titans uniform, Wright cemented his place among the most accomplished Canadians in franchise history, compiling a .256 average, 316 hits, 225 runs scored, 65 doubles, 42 home runs, 206 RBI, and 94 stolen bases. A valuable asset on both sides of the ball, Wright pitched 27 times for the Titans, including seven starts, totalling 34.1 innings on the mound. His combination of power, speed, and consistency made him one of the most productive Canadian players to ever wear a Titans uniform, leaving behind a statistical legacy that will be difficult to match.

“It has been an honour to represent Ottawa and to be a part of bringing professional baseball back to this community over the past five years,” said Taylor Wright. “In that time, I have made lifelong friendships, been a part of a championship run, and seen the city embrace us in a way I will never forget. The fan support we received throughout the playoffs this past year was truly something special, and I hope to see that support continue well into the future. To the fans, staff, coaches, my teammates, and everyone else who has played a part in the growth of this organization over the past five seasons, all I can say is thank you. It is time for me to move on to a new challenge in my career, but Ottawa will always have a special place in my heart.”

While the departure of a franchise icon is never easy, the organization is proud to have played a part in his journey and is excited to see him pursue this next opportunity in his professional career. His contributions, relationships, and memories created along the way will not soon be forgotten.

“It's difficult to put into words what Taylor has meant to this organization,” said Bobby Brown, Manager of the Ottawa Titans. “He's been here since the first year, and over the last five seasons, he's become so much more than a player to this team. He's been a tremendous teammate, a leader for our younger players, a competitor, and someone who has always represented this organization with pride. Players like him are a big part of building a winning culture, and we're incredibly grateful for everything he's given to the Titans. We're going to miss having him in the clubhouse, but we're excited for him and wish him nothing but the best moving forward.”

On behalf of the entire organization, we thank Taylor for everything he has given to the Ottawa Titans and wish him continued success in the next chapter of his career.

The Ottawa Titans will open the 2027 National Association season on Friday, May 7, at 7:00 p.m., hosting the Trois-Rivières Aigles at Ottawa Stadium.
