Hampton Cruises, Titans Blank Aigles in Quick Affair

Ottawa, ON - In just two hours and two minutes, the Ottawa Titans (52-43) bounced back to defeat the Trois-Rivières Aigles (35-62) by a 2-0 final on Tuesday night.

Ky Hampton (win, 3-5) looked dominant, picking up his first win in a nine-inning contest since June 6th, his first win/start of the season.

The Australian-born right-hander tossed six and one-third innings, allowing just five hits, walking one, and striking out four. The outing tied his longest appearance of the season and marked his first shutout start.

Former Blue Jays prospect Rainer Nuñez sent in the go-ahead runs with a double in the fourth, scoring Kaiden Cardoso and AJ Wright.

Lefty Harley Gollert (loss, 4-8) took the loss despite an impressive start. He tossed seven innings, allowing two runs on three hits, walking two, hitting one, and striking out one.

Liu Fuenmayor entered the game with runners on the corners in the seventh, and after walking the first batter he faced to load the bases, he shut things down. He went one and two-thirds innings, allowing no hits, walking one, and striking out one.

Brett Garcia (save, 14) slammed the door in the ninth, striking out three, to pick up his 14th save of the season. This save moved him into second in all-time Titans saves, tying him with Kevin Escorcia at 17.

The save also placed him in a three-way tie for third in most saves this Frontier League season.

Rainer Nuñez picked up an RBI double to give the Titans the win, and Hunter Stokely picked up a pair of singles as the Titans only recorded three hits in the contest. 

The Ottawa Titans continue the final homestand of the regular season with the second of a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Aigles on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium. The first 750 fans through the gates will receive a Titans-branded lunch box, and all fans will be treated to post-game fireworks. The Titans end the regular season with four games in New Jersey.
