MacDonald, Pineda Added To Bullpen

March 17, 2023

Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today the signings of right-handed pitchers Nick MacDonald and Gleyvin Pineda for the upcoming 2023 Frontier League season.

MacDonald, 24, joins the Titans bullpen after spending the 2022 season in the New York Mets organization. With the Mets’ A-ball affiliate, the St. Lucie Mets, MacDonald made two appearances out of the bullpen, totaling 1.2 innings on the mound.

Drafted by the Mets in the 23rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft, MacDonald was a career 2-1 with a 3.79 ERA in 26 appearances throughout his minor league career. The Pembroke Pines, Florida product was a member of the 2019 New York-Penn League champion Brooklyn Cyclones at short-season-A ball and the Florida State League champion St. Lucie Mets last summer.

A graduate of Florida International University (Miami, Florida), MacDonald will enter his fourth season of professional baseball in 2023. The 6-foot-1 right-hander went 14-12 in three seasons at FIU, totaling 215 innings over 43 appearances as both a starter and reliever.

Pineda, 26, signs with the Titans after being acquired from the Lake Erie Crushers last month. In 2022, Pineda went 3-0 with a 3.86 ERA in 30.1 innings out of the bullpen. The 5-foot-10 right-hander struck out 26 over 32 appearances. In his final 11.1 innings of the season, spanning July 3rd to August 20th, Pineda did not allow a run.

Hailing from Azua, Dominican Republic, Pineda will hit the field for his sixth season of professional baseball. Signed by the Los Angeles Angels in 2015, Pineda originally was an infielder in the minor leagues, reaching Advanced-A in 2019. In five seasons of affiliated baseball, Pineda was a lifetime .253 hitter with seven home runs and 110 RBI.

The Ottawa Titans open the 2023 season at home on Friday, May 12th against the Empire State Greys. For information on season tickets, group outings, and nine-game mini packs, visit the Titans’ official website at www.ottawatitans.com.
