Washington, PA  – The Ottawa Titans came out victorious on the road, defeating the Washington Wild Things 7-6 to wrap up their exhibition schedule Wednesday night.

After the Titans left two in scoring position to kick off the ball game in the first, the Wild Things jumped out to an early 2-0 courtesy of a JG Castillo two-run homer off Titans starter Chris Burica.

The Wild Things plated their third run of the game in the third inning off an error.

As the Titans settled in, Burica finished his outing going four complete, giving up five hits, striking out four.

The Titans found themselves playing catchup for the second consecutive night, finding their stride in the fourth, as Brendon Dadson and AJ Wright knocked in runs to cut the deficit to one-off Wild Things starter Nick Beardsley.

Jason Dicochea tied the game with a lead-off solo blast-off reliever Brailin Gonzalez in the sixth.

The momentum continued as Rodrigo Orozco picked up his first of two RBIs on the night, with a two-out home run in the seventh.

Scotty Dubrule’s double in the bottom of the eighth tied the game as he managed to line one into the left-centre field gap off Grant Larson to bring the game even at 4-4.

In the ninth, the Titans worked the bases loaded with no one out. Luke Navigato and Clay Fisher weren’t able to drive in the tie-breaking runs, bringing up Rodrigo Orozco, who drew a walk, plating the go-ahead run. Tyrus Greene followed suit by smacking a liner through the left side, adding to the lead.

The Wild Things made it interesting off Kenny Williams in the bottom half, adding two runs. With runners on the corners, Williams got Wagner Lagrange to pop out to finish the ball game.

The Ottawa Titans open the 2022 season on Friday, May 13th versus the Joliet Slammer at Duly Health and Care Field. First pitch for the season opener is at 7:35 p.m.
