Titans and Jackals Split Doubleheader, First Round Playoff Matchup Set

Paterson, NJ - Playing their second doubleheader in three days, the Ottawa Titans (56-44) split the two contests with the New Jersey Jackals (56-45) on Saturday night, losing game one 7-2 and taking the nightcap by a 6-0 final.

Game One - New Jersey 7, Ottawa 2

The Titans' four-game winning streak came to a close in the first game of the day, as the Jackals' late attack was too much to overcome.

For the second straight game, Jackie Urbaez hammered a leadoff solo homer in the top of the first off right-hander Noah Palmese (ND, 0-0) to put the Titans ahead 1-0. The 12^th homer of the year from Urbaez was also his third in the last four games.

Making his return to the squad, Alfredo Villa (loss, 0-1) was knocked around in the bottom of the first, allowing three runs on four hits. Felix Stevens drove in two with a single off the right-field wall while Isaac Bellony rolled an RBI single to left, putting the Jackals ahead 3-1.

The Titans got something going with a pair of singles to open the fourth, putting two on with nobody out. As a wild pitch from Palmese put two in scoring position with one out, Taylor Wright made it a one-run game with a sac fly to left.

In the bottom half, Bellony crushed a solo homer to centre, putting the game out of reach as the Jackals went up 4-2.

Villa settled in, giving the Titans four and two-thirds in his return to the Frontier League. The righty yielded six hits, walked one, and struck out six.

Kaleb Hill returned to the mound for the first time in over two and a half weeks, needing one out on the fifth but surrendered a solo homer to right off the bat of DeAmez Ross. The Jackals added two more in the sixth off Hill to finish off the opener.

The Jackals' pitching staff of Palmese, Rayne Supple (win, 2-0), and Chase Hungate (save, 6) combined for 16 strikeouts.

Game Two - Ottawa 6, New Jersey 0

The Titans answered back in a big way in the second contest, as the pitching staff tossed their third shutout in the last six games.

Ky Hampton (win, 4-5) shined, going four shutout innings on short rest, allowing two hits, walking two, and striking out five in a second consecutive win. Hampton preserved his clean outing by getting out of trouble in the third, leaving the bases loaded.

With their chances with runners aboard in the early going, the Titans could not solve Ruben Ramirez (loss, 1-2) through the first four frames before blowing it open in the fifth.

With a leadoff double of Mitsuki Fukuda in scoring position with two outs, Austin Gurney was beaned to extend the frame. Caleb Burr jumped all over the first pitch he saw, breaking the tie with an RBI single to left.

Hunter Stokely cracked a two-run double down the right-field line to score two, while Kaiden Cardoso drove in one with a single to put the Titans up 4-0.

In the sixth, Gurney added insurance with an RBI triple to centre field, while Stokely legged out an infield single to score one and make it a 6-0 lead.

Yohanse Morel threw two clean innings, pushing his consecutive scoreless innings streak to 12.2, while Liu Fuenmayor wrapped things up with a shutout seventh.

Hunter Stokely went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI. Jackie Urbaez singled and walked. Austin Gurney tripled, drove in a run, and was also plunked. Mitsuki Fukuda doubled and walked.

The Titans have now matched a franchise record with 56 victories this season and go 7-3 across five doubleheaders.

Also, the 2026 Atlantic Conference Playoff structure is set. Ottawa (No. 3, Wild Card 1) will take on New Jersey (No. 2, East Winner), and Québec (No. 1, North Winner) will face New York (No. 4, Wild Card 2) in the best-of-three opening round.

The Ottawa Titans end the regular season with the finale of a four-game series against the New Jersey Jackals on Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. at Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey. On Wednesday, the Titans will host the New Jersey Jackals in game one of the best-of-three Atlantic Conference Wild Card Playoffs at 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium.
