Ottawa, ON - The bats once again came alive as the Ottawa Titans (48-36) took a commanding 16-4 win over the Mississippi Mud Monsters (33-51) on Tuesday night.

The Titans put up a monster six-run inning to kick off the contest in the bottom of the first. AJ Wright got plunked, and Jackie Urbaez reached on an error to put two in scoring position. Taylor Wright drove in a run, and Caleb Burr picked up an RBI single to make it 2-0 just four batters in.

Later, with the bases loaded, Hunter Stokely came up big, sending a 406ft grand slam to put the Titans ahead 6-0.

With a runner on in the second, Travis Holt sent one deep to cut the Titans' lead to 6-2.

The Titans got both runs back in the bottom of the second as Burr sent a monster 433ft two-run shot to left to restore the six-run lead.

Before the early innings were done, Evan Grills (win, 6-0) allowed the first two to reach second time through the order to open the third. AJ Fritz swung at the first pitch he saw, grounding into an inning-ending triple play. AJ Wright, Urbaez, and Stokely chipped in to complete the Titans' second triple play in team history - the first since May 30, 2023.

Over the next four offensive innings, the Titans put up another seven runs. AJ Wright picked up a sacrifice fly in the third. Stokely recorded an RBI single, and Jake Steels added an RBI single in the fourth.

Taylor Wright and Burr each drove in runs in the fifth. Stokely sent another long ball, and Urbaez and Smith each drove in runs as the Titans put up 15 runs through six innings.

Grills picked up another win, looking absolutely dominant. He tossed seven quality innings, allowing three runs on six hits, walking one, striking out four and only throwing 81 pitches. He now has five quality outings since returning home.

Sergio Sanchez (2-4) got hit hard, taking the loss. He went four innings, allowing eleven runs (ten earned) on seven hits and issued five walks.

Jack Kalisky got the ball for the eighth and ninth, allowing one run and striking out three.

AJ Wright picked up three walks, scoring three times and driving in a run. Caleb Burr had a career night, going 4-for-5 with five RBI. Jake Steels went 2-for-3 with a pair of free passes and a pair of runs.

Hunter Stokely went 3-for-5 with a grand slam and a solo shot, picking up six RBI. The Titans rookie now has 19 RBI in his last seven games.

With the win and a Sussex County loss to Québec, the Titans' magic number to clinch a playoff spot is ten.

The Ottawa Titans continue a six-game series with game two against the Mississippi Mud Monsters on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium.
