Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans (49-36) earned their third win in a row, defeating the Mississippi Mud Monsters (33-52) 8-1 on Wednesday night, powered by stellar pitching and two jacks off the bat of rookie Caleb Burr.

Yohanse Morel (ND, 3-2) opened for the third time this year, going two sharp innings. He allowed just one hit and no runs.

The curveball was working for Dominic Puccetti (win, 5-4), as he picked up his first win since his return to the Titans. He tossed three and a third scoreless innings, allowing just three hits, walking one, and punching out six. It was Puccetti's first appearance all season in which he allowed no runs.

The bats came alive in the fifth as the Titans put up five runs. With two runners on, AJ Wright smacked a two-run double to left-centre, bringing his RBI total to a team-high 70 on the year. Taylor Wright doubled to bring in a run, and Caleb Burr launched a two-run shot to right to make it 5-0.

Ted Stuka held down the fort, going one and two-thirds scoreless innings of relief.

The Mud Monsters avoided a shutout as Brayland Skinner got the visitors on the board with an RBI groundout in the eighth off Christian Scafidi.

In the home half, Jackie Urbaez sent a sacrifice fly to make it 6-1, and Burr launched his second two-run shot of the day to extend the Titans' lead to 8-1.

Over the past two games, Burr has gone 6-for-10 with three long balls and nine RBI.

Brett Garcia closed out the ballgame, going three up, three down with two punchouts.

Jackson Smith (loss, 4-3) provided five innings of work for the Mud Monsters, allowing five runs on six hits, walking six, and striking out seven.

The Titans pitching staff combined to allow just five hits and issued two walks in the contest.

Caleb Burr had another strong night, going 2-for-5 with a pair of two-run shots. AJ Wright went 2-for-3 with two RBI and a pair of walks. Myles Smith picked up three free passes, and Kaiden Cardoso picked up two.

With the win and a Sussex County loss to Québec, the Titans' magic number to clinch a playoff spot is eight.
