Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans (1-1) fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 7-1 loss to the Empire State Greys (1-1) on Saturday.

Grant Larson (loss, 0-1) took the hill for his first start of the season and quickly surrendered a single and walk to begin the night, setting the stage for Josh Seras' three-run blast to centre to put the Greys ahead 3-0.

The Titans managed to get one run back in the third inning courtesy of a Jamey Smart RBI triple to right-centre, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

As two runners reached in the fifth inning, Larson was removed after four and two-thirds, while Damon Casetta-Stubbs allowed three more to cross the plate. Larson would be charged with five earned runs but did strike out four in his first outing of the season.

With only three hits through seven innings, Wilber Perez (win, 1-0), Carson Ferry, Nick Trabacchi, and Tanner Propst were able to finish the job and hold the Titans' bats at bay.

Taylor Wright was summoned into his first professional pitching appearance after Erasmo Pinales left the game in the eighth with an injury. The North Vancouver, British Columbia product allowed one run on three hits and struck out a pair over an inning and two-thirds.

The Ottawa Titans finish their series against the Empire State Greys on Sunday at 1:00 pm at Ottawa Stadium. The Titans will then hit the road for a six-game road trip through Evansville and Gateway beginning on Tuesday.
