Burr, Villa Pace Titans to Game Two Win

Evansville, IN - The Ottawa Titans bounced back in a big way in Game Two, thumping the Evansville Otters 11-1 on Wednesday night, evening the Frontier League Championship Series at a game apiece.

Three batters in, the Titans got to right-hander Colby Morse (loss, 0-2) in the top of the first to take the lead. Jake Steels led off with a double, scoring on a Jackie Urbaez extra-base hit. Myles Smith added an RBI single, while Caleb Burr drove in his first of six on the night with a double. After a half inning, the Titans were up 3-0.

Making his second start of the postseason, Alfredo Villa (win, 2-0) once again shined, giving the Titans seven innings of one-run ball, striking out six. The lone damage for the Otters came on a second-inning solo homer from Blake Robertson.

Needing insurance, the Titans loaded the bases against Morse with one out in the fifth. In a 2-0 count, Burr demolished a grand slam to blow the game open at 7-1. As the Otters made a pitching change, left-hander Dylan Zentko served up a solo homer to Taylor Wright, making it 8-1.

For Villa, the veteran was in cruise control after allowing the homer in the second - at one point retiring 13 in a row to get the win.

In the later innings, the offence added three more runs of insurance to cross double digits for the first time in the playoffs. Smith brought in one with a groundout in the eighth, while a single from Burr and a sac fly from Steels in the ninth put the contest to bed.

Out of the bullpen, Ted Stuka and Michael Vilchez combined for two scoreless innings to lock down the victory.

Caleb Burr posted three hits, with a double, homer, and a postseason franchise-record six RBI. Jackie Urbaez also had three hits. Myles Smith and Taylor Wright each had two hits in the win.

The Ottawa Titans continue the 2026 Playoffs, coming home for Game Three of the Frontier League best-of-five Championship Series against the Evansville Otters on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium. Game Four is also in Ottawa on Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium. If necessary, Game Five is Sunday.
