Fast Start, Complete Effort Guide Titans to Series Win

Ottawa, ON - The bats got going early as the Ottawa Titans (45-31) beat the Trois-Rivières Aigles (27-50) by a final score of 12-5 on Saturday night, extending the win streak to four and the series unbeaten streak to ten in a row.

The scoring started in the bottom of the first as the Titans put up a four-run frame. Taylor Wright walked, and both Thomas Ferroggiaro and Jackie Urbaez singled to load the bases. Myles Smith singled to bring in two and put runners on the corners. AJ Wright picked up an RBI single to bring in a run, and Jake Steels capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-0.

Dominic Puccetti (ND, 4-4) got the start for the Titans and looked solid through three and two-thirds innings. He allowed two runs on four hits, walking two, while striking out two.

Up 4-2 heading into the bottom of the fourth, the Titans added some insurance. Michael Fuhrmann doubled, and Jack Kalisky singled to put runners on the corners. Taylor Wright singled in a run, and Kalisky scored on a double play to make it 6-2.

Taylor Wright added a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth to push the lead to 7-2.

Michael Vilchez (win, 3-1) picked up the win, working three and a third innings and allowing no hits and just one walk.

The Titans tacked on three more runs in the seventh and added another two runs in the eighth, finishing with 14 hits on the night.

Yohanse Morel picked up a scoreless inning of relief, and Kalisky struggled, allowing three runs in the ninth.

Southpaw Harley Gollert (loss, 2-6) took the loss, going six innings and allowing seven runs on twelve hits and one walk.

Taylor Wright had a strong night at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two walks and two RBI. Thomas Ferroggiaro chipped in with a pair of singles, and Jackie Urbaez went 1-for-3 with two walks. Myles Smith had himself a game, going 1-for-3 with two walks and three RBI. AJ Wright stole the show, going 4-for-5 with two RBI to lead the offence.

The Titans have now won eight of their last nine and are 16-5 since the all-star break. The Club is also 14 games over the .500 mark for the first time since the 2022 season.

The Ottawa Titans end a short homestand with the finale of a three-game series against the Trois-Rivières Aigles on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Ottawa Stadium. Tomorrow is Cappy's Birthday.
