OFFICIAL FRONTIER LEAGUE BOX SCORE

Evansville, IN - The Ottawa Titans (2-3) were only able to record two hits in a 5-1 loss to the Evansville Otters (3-2) on Wednesday.

John Vargas (win, 1-0) was masterful for the victorious Otters in the middle game of the series, retiring the first nine he saw in order. The right-hander would go six complete, allowing one run (unearned), on two hits, walking one, and striking out seven in the win.

After two reached in the bottom of the first, Dakota Phillips and Jeffery Baez cashed in with RBI singles, putting the Otters ahead 2-0.

The Titans would get on the board after loading the bases in the top of the fourth. Gabe Snyder scored AJ Wright with an RBI groundout, bringing the Titans within a run at 2-1.

Jake Green would bring home a Kona Quiggle double, reaching on an E3 in the bottom half of the fourth to make it 3-1.

Zac Westcott (loss, 1-1) would come one strike away from a quality start, going 5 and two-thirds, allowing three runs (two earned), walking four, and striking out five in his second start of the season.

Alec Thomas would get the Titans out of a bases loaded jam in relief of Westcott, as he got Ethan Skender to bounce into a fielder's choice to end the sixth to leave the bases loaded.

The Otters would respond with two in the seventh after Kona Quiggle's two-run triple off Thomas, making it a 5-1 game.

Jackie Urbaez would extend his hit streak to five games, going 1-for-4 in the loss. The Titans also struck out twelve times for the second consecutive night. It is the third time this season that the team has combined to strike out ten of more times.

In other news, the Titans have activated right-handed pitcher Nelson Gonzalez from the 7-day Injured List and signed right-handed pitcher Max Steffens.

The Ottawa Titans finish their series with the Evansville Otters tomorrow night at 7:35 pm ET at Bosse Field with Grant Larson taking the mound. All the action can be heard on CKDJ 107.9 and 94,5 UNIK FM and livestreamed on Flo Baseball.
