Trois-Rivières, QC – Electing to push back their double header a day, the Ottawa Titans (34-18) managed to defeat the Trois-Rivières Aigles 12-9 on Tuesday night.

Raphael Gladu got the home side on the board with a two-run double down the right-field line in the bottom half of the first, making it 2-0. Kaleb Schmidt (win, 2-3) got the start for the Titans on Tuesday and escaped through five and a third in the series opener. In his first start with the Titans, Schmidt allowed only four hits over the first four innings, with three going for extra bases.

Following a Rodrigo Orozco RBI groundout in the second that cut the deficit to one, the Titans erupted for an eight spot in the third.

Aigles starter Taylor Lepard (loss, 0-2) walked home three runs before Tyrus Greene, Jackie Urbaez, and Clay Fisher recorded RBI knocks. As Lepard was unable to finish the frame, former Titan Scott Gillespie tried his best to stop the bleeding but the damage had been done at 9-2.

In the fourth, Orozco plated his third of the game with an RBI single to right, scoring Jason Dicochea to make it 10-2.

LP Pelletier blasted his eighth homer of the season with one out in the fifth off Schmidt. Pelletier finished the game 4-for-5 with two runs batted in.

The Titans added two more for good measure in the sixth, as Greene belted his second homer of the season to lead off the frame. Later in the inning with the bases loaded, Gillespie plunked Fisher to score the twelfth Titans run.

Up 12-3 entering the eighth, the Aigles had a big inning of their own, sending 12 to the plate. After Jack Alkire retired Carlos Martinez in the air, the Aigles strung together seven straight hits, making it a three-run game.

Gatineau’s Marcel Lacasse brought home two with a double off the wall in right. The former Titans signee now has recorded six of his eight RBI against his former club this season.

Grant Larson came on for the ninth, looking for the final three outs. After getting the first, back-to-back singles turned the lineup over for the dangerous bat in Pelletier. Larson managed to get Pelletier to pop out and bring the Aigles down to their final out. Titans skipper Bobby Brown chose to bring in All-Star Kevin Escorcia, who walked Connor Panas to bring up the potential winning run. Escorcia finished the deal with a strikeout of Juan Kelly to secure the victory.

With their fourth straight win, the Titans continue their series with Trois-Rivières tomorrow for a double header starting at 5:05 p.m. from Stade Quillorama. Following the twin-bill, the Titans and Aigles finish the series on Thursday night. The Titans return home on Friday for the final series of the first half with a three-game set against the Quebec Capitales.
