Titans Sign Brown, Carcione to Multi-Year Extensions

Ottawa, ON – The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club announced today the signings of field manager Bobby Brown and coach Tom Carcione to multi-year contract extensions.

The 48-year-old skipper guided the Titans to a 56-39 finish in their inaugural 2022 campaign, advancing to the Frontier League’s East Division Series.

“Our coaching staff is beyond excited to be back in Ottawa,” explained Brown. “We’re going to continue building a ball club that will energize the city and fans both on and off the field and strive for our goal of winning a championship. Everyone in the organization from top to bottom has tremendous pride in this team and we look forward to improving in all aspects. Tom and I can’t wait to get started again.”

Finishing third in the East Division, the Titans impressed out of the gate with a record of 26-12 after the opening third of the season. Over that stretch, the team won a season-high nine games and eventually emerged victorious in nine of their final ten matchups of the regular season. The Titans qualified for the playoffs, defeating the New York Boulders in the Wild Card round before dropping a decisive third game to the eventual champion Quebec Capitales in the FLDS.

Brown debuted as a coach with Allan Hancock College in 2007, before getting his first managerial job with the Las Cruces Vaqueros of the Continental Baseball League in 2010. After a brief stop in the North American League in 2011, Brown joined the American Association, where he’d stay for nearly a decade.

The San Luis Obispo, California native parted ways with the Lincoln Saltdogs organization after the 2019 season. While with Lincoln, Brown earned Manager of the Year honours in 2017, guiding the Saltdogs to a Central Division championship. Prior to accepting the Titans managerial position, Brown served as the hitting coach for the Pioneer League champion Missoula PaddleHeads in 2021.

“Anytime you have a season like we did, especially as a new franchise, making the postseason, and building a lot of momentum you have to be proud of the on-field product,” said Ottawa Titans Vice President and COO Regan Katz. “I am thrilled to welcome Bobby and Tom back for years to come, we are confident they’ll bring continued success to the Ottawa Titans.”

The 56-year-old Carcione served as the Titans’ pitching coach a season ago and has nearly 30 years of experience across many different levels of baseball, both as a coach and as a player.

Prior to joining the Titans, Carcione spent the 2021 season as the hitting coach for the Frontier League’s Southern Illinois Miners.

The River Grove, Illinois native is no stranger to the Nation’s Capital as he was the hitting coach, then interim manager for the Can-Am League’s Ottawa Rapidz in 2008.
