2025: A Summer of Excitement and Milestones

A run for the ages, record-breaking performances both on and off the field, and a summer filled with excitement highlighted a successful fourth season of Ottawa Titans baseball in Canada’s Capital.
In 2025, the Titans reached nearly 100,000 fans through home games alone, marking a 16% increase in total attendance from the previous season. It was the third consecutive year—every year of the team’s existence—with double-digit percentage growth in attendance, underscoring the National Capital Region's growing love for a traditional summer pastime.
A major milestone came on August 9, when the club welcomed its 300,000th fan to the ballpark since its inception. The momentum didn’t stop there. The Titans went on to set back-to-back weekend attendance records, drawing 10,000+ fans during both the August 22–24 and August 29–31 homestands, averaging approximately 3,500 fans per game over those six dates.
In the community, the Titans continued to make a significant impact. Through the Ottawa Titans Field of Dreams Foundation, the organization raised and distributed over $38,000 in 2024 to 22 registered children’s charities across the National Capital Region—bringing total contributions to more than $100,000 in just three years. These funds support programs that help youth of all abilities experience the game of baseball, develop life skills, and build stronger community connections.
On the field, the team came just one win short of the League Championship Series the previous year, seeing the Titans enter 2025 with high expectations—and got off to a strong start with a 2-0 sweep on Opening Weekend in North Carolina.
However, momentum quickly shifted, as the club endured its most challenging stretch in franchise history, dropping 15 of the next 35 games.
Midseason changes proved pivotal. Strategic acquisitions helped Manager Bobby Brown’s squad catch fire, surging into playoff contention with a 15-5 run heading into the All-Star break.
Leading the charge offensively was Winnipeg native Victor Cerny, who turned in a career year. Cerny hit .309 across 79 games, setting personal bests in doubles (19), triples (2), home runs (6), and RBI (53), earning a well-deserved spot on the Atlantic Conference All-Star Team.
Joining him at the mid-summer classic was rookie right-hander Billy Duby, who emerged as a dominant setup man out of the bullpen. Duby held opponents scoreless in 14 of his 19 appearances and recorded an 11-inning scoreless streak from May 15 to June 8. He finished the season with a 1.21 WHIP. Pitching Coach David Peterson was also recognized for his work, earning a selection to the All-Star Coaching Staff.
The Titans continued their resurgence in the second half, putting together an impressive 12-series unbeaten streak from late June through early August.
Veterans stepped up in a big way. Jackie Urbaez, known for his infectious energy and leadership, matched a career-high with 18 doubles and set a personal best with 52 RBI. He also broke the Frontier League single-season hit-by-pitch record (40) and claimed the league’s career HBP mark in late June.
Offensively, the lineup featured breakout performances from Justin Fogel, who hit .338 over 56 games, and Nolan McCarthy, who added pop in the heart of the order. Fan favourite Jake Sanford also returned, giving the offence a late-season boost.
On the mound, Alfredo Villa delivered one of the best pitching campaigns in franchise history. He became just the second Titan to record 10 wins in a season and was the first to post back-to-back double-digit strikeout performances. Kaleb Hill, a late addition via waivers, impressed in both starting and relief roles with a 3.60 ERA across 29 appearances. Meanwhile, Shane Gray emerged as one of the league’s top relievers, posting a 2.34 ERA and 12 saves in 20 outings.
Despite a strong 40-21 finish over the final 61 games, the Titans narrowly missed the playoffs—falling short by just a game and a half.
The club’s efforts didn’t go unnoticed. General Manager Martin Boyce was awarded the prestigious Bob Wolfe Executive of the Year Award, marking the second consecutive season the organization received league-wide recognition.
Backed by a passionate fan base and a playoff-calibre roster, the Titans are primed to take the next step in 2026.
