Game One - Ottawa 14, Trois-Rivières 5
The Titans stormed out of the gate by posting back-to-back huge innings against right-hander Jose Ramirez (loss, 4-7) to pull ahead in the opener.
Down 1-0 after one, the Titans erupted for four in the top of the second, then added a six-spot in the third to be up 10-1. Robert Chayka and Tyler Martin each doubled home runs, while Jake Sanford picked up two RBI over the two frames. AJ Wright also knocked in a pair with a double, as the Titans went into cruise control over the late innings.
After opening with Taylor Wright (ND, 0-1), who allowed one run over an inning of work - Zach Cameron gave the club 1.2 frames of relief, seeing the Aigles add three runs on four hits. Cameron walked four in his outing, seeing the Aigles cut into the deficit.
Brandon Marklund (win, 2-0) went 2.1 innings, allowing just one run on three hits, while striking out one to help the Titans to the victory. Mac Lardner sealed the deal with two clean frames, striking out three.
In the late innings, Cristian Inoa blasted two homers to put the game out of reach. Inoa crushed a two-run homer in the fifth, then added a solo homer in the seventh for long balls number six and seven of the season.
Tyler Martin went 2-for-4 with a double and a career-high four RBI in the win. Justin Fogel recorded three hits, while Jake Sanford, Cristian Inoa, Taylor Wright, and Kaiden Cardoso each posted two-hit games. Jackie Urbaez was plunked in the third inning, becoming the Frontier League's single-season record holder with his 39th hit by pitch of the season.
Game Two - Ottawa 7, Trois-Rivières 5
The Titans held off a late Aigles' rally to sweep the twin bill - with Shane Telfer (win, 8-6) allowing just three runs (two earned) on eight hits, striking out four for his fourth win in his last five outings.
Putting two on in the first, Cristian Inoa reached on an infield single, bringing home Jackie Urbaez to open the scoring. Later, with the bases loaded, right-hander Gavino Rosales (loss, 1-4) walked Jake Sanford to bring home AJ Wright to make it 2-0.
In the third, Cristian Inoa ripped a double to score AJ Wright from first to make it 3-0.
In the fifth, the Titans took advantage of three errors to plate three more to go up 6-0. Cristian Inoa's third hit of the game scored Jackie Urbaez before Justin Fogel reached on a fielder's choice with the bases loaded, scoring Taylor Wright and AJ Wright - who also plated as the throw from first got away from Aigles' first baseman Brandon Hylton.
The Aigles spoiled the shutout bid by adding three off Telfer in the bottom of the fifth, as Connor Hicks ripped an RBI ground rule double to left, scoring John Montes. Mathieu Vallé brought home one with a single before an error brought a third-run homer before the inning was complete. Jon Beymer came on in relief, striking out Manny Garcia to end the threat with the potential tying run on base.
In the seventh, Justin Fogel clubbed an RBI double to right, scoring AJ Wright to add much-needed insurance to make it 7-3.
On for his second inning of relief, Billy Duby surrendered a pair of runs on a two-run single from Brandon Hylton, as the Aigles made it a 7-5 game. With the trying run at the plate, Shane Gray (save, 10) fanned Juan Carlos Negret and Manny Garcia to lock down the victory.
Cristian Inoa went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Inoa went a combined 6-for-9 with a double, two homers, and six RBI in the two wins. AJ Wright posted a multi-hit effort in the game two win.
With the doubleheader sweep and the New York Boulders dropping both ends of a twin-bill to the Tri-City ValleyCats, the Titans are now within 0.5 games of the Boulders for the final playoff spot in the Atlantic Conference with 11 games to go.
